Microsoftってこんな方面にも・・・

MicrosoftとF1

　あまり結びつかないですね。せいぜい、「F1キーを押せばヘルプを参照できる」なんて事に思い当たるくらいでしょうか。
　ところが、「F1」とだけ言ったら多くの人が考えるだろうFormura-1とMicrosoftが絡んでくるようです。あるニュースで
　FIA（国際自動車連盟）は、現地時間（以下、現地時間）５日、フランス・パリにおいて世界モータースポーツ評議会（以下、WMSC）を開催し、2008年から2010年までのF１世界選手権における公式ECU（エレクトロニックコントロールユニット）サプライヤーにマイクロソフト MES、公式タイヤサプライヤーにブリヂストンを選択することを受理。FIAはWMSCの会合に続いて声明を発表し、マイクロソフト、ブリヂストン両社と公式サプライヤー契約を締結したことを発表した。
という記事がありました。
　記事には、マイクロソフトMESとありますから、Microsoftそのものではないにせよ、そんなことまでやるんですね。大きな会社ですから、私たちが想像もしない方面にもいろいろと手を広げてるんでしょうね。

F1マシンのステアリング(ハンドル)

　このニュースからいろいろWEB上の情報を辿っていったら、F1マシンのステアリングホイールの写真がありました。(http://www.f1technical.net/articles/30)　すでにステアリング「ホイール」とは呼べないくらいになってますね。スイッチとボタンとつまみが所狭しと並んでます。
　今は何でもかんでもコンピュータで、言い換えればソフトウェアで制御しているので当然といえば、当然の帰結かもしれません。でも、そのうちドライバーが乗車しなくても良くなったりして。

ドライバーといえば

　面白いことを書き込みも見ました。曰く
Microsoftによって承認されている署名済みドライバーも必要、とか？
署名のないドライバーを乗せようとすると、「重大な障害を引き起こす要因となる可能性があります」なんて言われて、「続行」か「インストールの中止」かを尋ねられるわけです。

制御系

　聞くところによると、機械の制御系ではWindowsよりLinuxとかTronとかを使うことの方が多いようですね。まぁ、今回のF1の話は、別に制御系にWindowsを使うという話ではありませんが。
　そういえば、研究会の会員企業である「インターブリッジ」さんのところは組み込みLinuxとか制御系の仕事をされてましたね。
