大雪について考える

大雪について思う

大雪お見舞い申し上げます

　新潟、北海道など雪害に苦しむ地域の皆様、心よりお見舞い申し上げます。
私も現在でこそ温暖な新潟に住んでおりますが、かつては松本、北海道、仙台、
新潟など寒い地域にすんでいました。その経験からさぞ、大変なことと思います。

　恐らく雪国は雪国としての行き方があると思いますが、自分の考えを述べさせていただきたいと思います。

久しぶりに感じた雪国の厳しさ

　北海道に引率でお邪魔して、その自由行動日に大長靴を履いて、ふくろうの巣穴をたずねた。 ラッセルでふくろうの巣穴を尋ねた。スパッツを忘れたため、雪が長靴の中に入ってきた。 冷たかった。実はこの体験は北海道・北見市の小学校を通ったときの体験と 同じだった。当時は北見市郊外に住んでいたため子供足で40分程度かかる小学校に通っていた。 吹雪の日よりも、豪雪の日の方が通学が苦痛だった。雪が靴のなかに入ってきて、足の指先まで 凍えてしまからだ。そんな思いを何十年かぶりに思い出した。

野鳥はしたたかである

　野鳥は毎日、自分の何倍かの食料を食べて生きてゆかないと生命を維持してゆけない。 そのためリスクを侵してでも食料を調達する行動に出る。わずかな晴れ間を見つけて餌場に 現れたりしている。良く、天候の変化が敏感にわかるものだ。いつもながら関心する。

なぜ、自分は雪国に憧れを持つのか

　実は現在の資格を撮る前は税理士試験を受験していた。理由は北海道に移住し、 写真を撮りながら生活したいからだった。夢破れて別の国家資格で全国を飛び回る日々であるが、 雪国への憧れはやまない。
　雪には筆舌に尽くしがたいような美しさがある。富良野でみた、丘一面の白銀の世界と青空。 道東のオホーツクの森の中で見たギンザンマシコ（野鳥の名前）の赤と雪とのコントラスト。 数え上げれば枚挙がない。

　先だっても、鳥取県日野町根雨でオシドリの撮影をしてきたが、日野川の中洲に 積もった白い雪とオシドリの色彩はとても美しいものであった。人間は自然と共存しながら 生きてゆくしかないのかなと考えている。それを恐怖と思うか美しいと思うかは、そのときどきの 人がおかれた条件によって異なる。例えば、雪の中をラッセルしている最中であれば、 雪は鬱陶しいものであるが、暖かい露天風呂の中から見る雪は美しい。

皆さんは雪とのかかわりはいかがだろうか

　多分、自分はこれからも暖かい地域に住み、雪についてこんな漠然としたことを
考え続けて、そして雪国に憧憬をいだいきつつ生きてゆくのだろう。
