携帯電話業界への新規参入について思う事
おはようございます。金曜日担当の宿澤です。今日はＩＴリーダ研究会ですよね。夕方に大切なプレゼンがあり参加できなくて申し訳ありません。２ヶ月もみなさんの顔を見ないと忘れられてしまいそうです･･･。12月は必ず参加いたしますので、よろしくお願いいたします。
12年ぶりに携帯電話業界に新規参入
新聞を賑わしていますが、12年ぶりに携帯電話業界に新規参入が認められましたね。ソフトバンクの孫社長が携帯電話に新規参入を目指すと表明してから、わりと時間が経ったと思います。当初は800MHZの周波数帯での参入しかできないとか言われていましたけど、念願どおり、1.7GHZの周波数帯を割り当てられたみたいですね。
これで、既存の３社と新規の３社が同じ土俵に上がることになり、消費者としてはとても楽しみです。「圏外」表示を見せてカバー率を心配する報道もありましたが、孫社長の言う「無理せずに一歩一歩着実に成果を挙げていく」方法が結局は世に受け入れられる一番の近道の気がします。
「世の消費者は常に正しい判断を下す」と松下幸之助さんがおっしゃっていたと思いますが、正しく市場原理が働いている業界は正しくその通りで、今後の６社の動向を見て行きたいと思います。2006年秋以降、順次サービスを開始するそうなので、楽しみです。
実は私も携帯を変えたい
私はツーカーの携帯を使っています。電話やメールの端末としては別に問題もなく、べつにWindowsCE.NETのPDAを持ち歩いているので、特に不満はないのですが、他社の華やかな機能をみるとついつい新しいものが欲しくなってしまいます。
ツーカーとａｕが番号変更なしで乗換優遇サービスがあり、10月11日より申込受付が開始されていたのですが、予想を上回る数の申し込みが殺到したため、10月18日をもって一時的に中断してしまいました。私も正直言って乗り換えようかと思っていたので、突然の中断は悲しかったです。 ただ、11月から再開という噂もありましたが、結局再開していないようですね。
この時期に、ツーカーユーザーをａｕが取り込んでおくことはとても有効だと思うのですが、再開が遅れると、来年の夏予定の番号ポータビリティの開始まで、さらには新規参入業者３社のサービスが始まるまで待とうかな、というユーザーも出てくると思います。既に私がそう考え始めています。
やっぱり価格かな？
昨晩のニュースで新規参入業者の一つイー・モバイルの新しい携帯電話がデモされていました。キーボード大好き人間の私としては、ちょっと魅力的に感じました。
このような変わった理由で新しい新規参入業者に興味を持つ人は少ないと思いますが、やはり期待されることは、料金とコンテンツの充実だと思います。特に料金に関しては関心が高いと思います。市場の競争原理が働けば、当然価格競争になるわけで、低価格化が期待できます。基本料金分で、東京は4,420円、ニューヨークは4,434円、ロンドンは5,234円、パリは4,239円、デュッセルドルフは5,828円となり、東京は世界的にみて安いらしいですが、それは無料通話時間やファミリー割引の適用例を比較し、実際より安くみせているとし、孫社長は「日本の携帯電話は世界一料金が高い」と語っています。この事からも低価格化が進むと思われます。
ただ、先ほどのカバー率の話に戻ってしまいますが、低価格競争に陥り、十分な設備投資も出来ない状態が続いてしまう･･･。結果、カバー率も上がっていかないなんて悪循環は避けて欲しいと思います。
