本当にあった怖い話
takasunaです。私は職場で20台ほどのパソコンやらサーバやらの面倒を見ていますが、時には「まさか！そんな馬鹿な」というトラブルに遭遇する事があります。その中の一つを紹介しましょう。
それは1999年暮、そう2000年を目前にして2000年問題の影に戦々恐々としていた頃でした。講習会用に同じ環境を構築したPCが8台。それぞれにMS Office97がインストールされていました。しかし、なぜかマイクロソフトはOfficeの98を出さなかったので、Wordだけ98にアップグレードしているという状況でした。
8台のパソコンはすべてMS Office97+Word98という環境だったのです。しかし、なぜか、1台だけWord97が起動するという不思議な現象を目にしました。8台すべて同じ環境、問題のパソコンも以前はきちんとWord98が動いてました。それが突然、Word97に戻ってしまったのです。
「おかしい、そんな馬鹿な・・・・」などと呟いていても仕方ないので、Word98にアップグレードする事にしました。インストールは終了し、これで一件落着のはずでした。しかし、再度立ち上がってきたのはWord97！！
「なぜだ？なぜなんだ?」 しかし、パソコンは答えてくれません。マイクロソフトも答えてくれないでしょう。こうなったら、Office97からインストールしなおしてやる、それしかない。そう考えて、早速実行に移しました。Office97のインストールは無事に終了、Wordだけ98へアップグレード。しかし、現世に悔いを残してでもいるのか、Word97の亡霊は立ち去ってくれません。何度Word98をインストールしても駄目でした。
幸い、年明けまではそのパソコンを使う予定は無かったので、放っておくことにしました。ひとりでにWord97になったなら、またひとりでにWord98になるかもしれない・・・ そんなわけありません。2000年問題でのトラブルも起きなくて平和な年明けを迎えた後、そのパソコンはOSから再インストールされて、やっとWord97の亡霊は立ち去ったのでした。
あぁ、怖かった。(えっ、全然怖くないって？)
実はこの時、OSをインストールした際に、なぜかWindowsネットワークにログオンできないというトラブルまで発生し、まさに霊は霊を呼ぶ、じゃなくてトラブルはトラブルを呼ぶという状態でした。(T_T)
